IS IT WORTH TO DROP A YEAR AFTER 12TH?

High School is the probably the most important time of your life. This is the time when you decide what are you going to do for the rest of your life. This is no easy time. I am sure a lot of students already have a dream college in mind which requires giving many entrances and competitive exams like IIT-JEE,NEET or any other of your choice. If you are really focused on doing something then there are great chances you have been preparing for it for long. Unfortunately, not everyone gets through these rigorous entrance examinations at once and get their favorite colleges IIT,NIT or AIIMS. But the reason isn’t always that you weren’t meant to be there. To get through their desired course a lot of people drop a year to prepare for the various competitive examinations. But, there is always this question in mind
Is it worth dropping a year after 12th?
Here is why and why not –
1. Good college makes a difference
There is no doubt that good and renowned colleges makes a huge difference to your life. It’s not always that good colleges land you with good high paying job. An average college can land you in same job as well but the exposure these good colleges offer is completely different. You get to learn a lot of things apart from your course. Which is it is suggested you should never compromise on a good college if you have the capability to get through.
2.It gives clarity
While you are preparing for a specific course and examination you get ample of time to decide and analyse if this is really your area of interest.
A lot of people get clarification in their career when they drop a year and get time in peace to decide what they want to do.
You should not compromise with what you want to do in life. This is not a question of one year but your whole life. If you are seeing one year as an investment and if you are sure about your course then you shouldn’t compromise on your career and you can give one year of to your career.
4.You get to work on your strengths
One year of time is not just meant for studies. During this time you also get to analyze your weaknesses and strengths and you get enough time to work on them. There are lot of new things you get to know about yourself in this one year of time which will help you for a long time.
5.You get better training
Most of the people join the coaching institutes for the preparation which are the best institutes for the purpose. In one year of time you give your unfocused attention to your exams and these coaching institutes give you the best guidance and methods to clear the exams with flying colors.
No doubt, dropping a year is no easy choice. There is lot of stress and performance pressure but that’s what helps you get through. Also, if you aren’t motivated to study for the exams,it is suggested you don’t take a drop as most people end up distracting themselves if the preparation doesn’t interest them.
